Research Methodology

Retail Eye’s methodology to understanding a retailer or a consumer products company’s performance is to partner our "in-the-store" analysis with real customer opinions and knowledge. Through daily store visits throughout the US, we assess product assortments, fashion trends/acceptance levels, customer traffic, product/specific brand sell throughs, inventory levels, markdowns, promotions and in-store operations. We evaluate both the short-term outlook and longer-term strategy and growth potential for each of our companies under coverage.

Additionally, we utilize consumer panels of women and teens to bring a broader perspective and understanding on consumer shopping patterns, and to help validate our in-the-store analysis and research.

We believe this information complements the traditional, financially-focused research from Wall Street analysts, to provide our clients with a full understanding of how a retailer or consumer company is truly performing prior to a sales or earnings announcement, as well as to make longer term trading and investment decisions.
